Brazilian fashion model Ana Carolina Reston Macan. She had a body mass index (BMI) of only 13.4, well below the index value of 16 which the World Health Organization considers to be starvation. Her condition became more serious and deteriorated into generalized infection that led to her death at the age of 21.
Ana Karolina Reston who died due to heart failure caused by anorexia. This forced many fashion shows to enforce a minimum Body Mass Index for models(Ana’s body mass index was below 16 which is considered to be starvation)
Luisel Ramos, who demonstrated her intellectual might by going on a lettuce-Diet Coke diet for weeks in order to go from size -1 to size heaven-knows-what, died during a show and caused the Madrid Fashion Week to issue a minimum BMI stipulation for models.
Sorry. This is Ana Carolina Reston, the *second* prominent model to die of malnutrition. First one was Auisel Ramos, as I said before. And it was Ramos’ death that caused the minimum BMI thing, not this female’s death.
